Speak Into Existence Open Mic

Finding Your Voice in Community: Speak Into Existence Open Mic Returns Sometimes we carry words that need to be spoken, truths that demand to be shared, and stories that deserve to be heard. Monday, April 20th, Clearbrook Center of the Arts opens its doors once again for an evening dedicated to the power of authentic expression. Speak Into Existence Open Mic isn’t just another poetry night. It’s a space where your voice matters, where your truth finds its home among a community that understands the healing power of words. Whether you’re a seasoned poet or someone who’s never shared their writing before, this family-friendly gathering welcomes every story, every perspective, every heartfelt expression. What makes this evening particularly special is our celebration of National Poetry Month, featuring the incredible 13 of nazareth as our spotlight performer. Known as a “poetic word slayer” and “the poet’s poet,” their presence promises an evening of transformative artistry that speaks directly to the soul. Your host for the evening is the remarkable Kim B Miller, a TEDx Speaker and award-winning poet who has claimed the title of DMV Renaissance Awards Haikuist of The Year for three consecutive years (2021, 2022, and 2023). As the 2019 Southern Fried Haiku Champion, Kim brings both expertise and warmth to create a space where every voice is valued and every story is honored. The beauty of this open mic lies in its inclusivity. Musicians, writers, spoken word poets, comedians, singers, rappers, storytellers, and public speakers all find their place here. It’s not just about performing; you can share your business, ask questions, gain insight, or simply absorb the creative energy that flows through the room. The community aspect extends beyond the stage, creating connections that nurture both artistic growth and personal healing. Accessibility remains a priority, with wheelchair accessibility on the main level and resources available for those who are hearing impaired. The venue offers free parking and is conveniently located at 2230 Tacketts Mill Dr. in Lake Ridge, nestled in the mini-mall near familiar neighborhood spots. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the show beginning at 7 PM, giving you time to settle in and connect with fellow attendees before the evening unfolds. Early bird tickets are available for $9, with general admission at $12 and door tickets at $15. In a world that often feels fragmented, Speak Into Existence creates a sanctuary where authentic voices gather to share, heal, and inspire. It’s an evening where poetry serves as both mirror and medicine, reflecting our experiences while offering the balm of community understanding.
